Muhamad Ali - Greatest memorial park
Civil liberties movement
The Black lives matter movement brought up issues that needed to be addressed institutionally and on a larger scale. This is one of those projects, that attempts to remind the public of the people involved in the Civil rights movement both here and abroad. The client proposed as one of the proponents of this movement Muhamad Ali, the American boxer and civil liberties fighter.
Park design
His statue created by Jesse Richardson would be the central piece in this park design. Surrounding it in winding pathways would be two different features. The first are commemorative plaques, showing a picture and a brief description of the life of the civil rights fighter. Secondly, there would be remembrance walls, that exhibit sayings and quotes by the same people, highlighting the message to the park users. Walkways from all four corners of the plot lead towards the central statue, highlighting its importance and creating an impressive visual of the sculpture. The park focuses on indigenous vegetation and strives to create an oasis in the middle of the development by surrounding the statues and plaques with dense vegetation, creating an area of peace and quiet.
